Coach Steve has been working with the high jumpers at Denver East since 2024 and will be helping to develop the school’s new pole vault program this year. He is a USATF Level 2 jumps coach and an active, nationally ranked Masters track and field athlete. In a previous century, he high jumped 6’5” and pole vaulted in high school. While at Harvard, he vaulted 15’0” and earned All–New England honors in his senior year. Dr. Pinney is also an orthopedic surgeon, volunteer faculty member at the University of Colorado, and founder of OrthoEducation, a non-profit organization dedicated to patient education.
