Coach Carhart has dreamed of being at East his entire life, having been raised by multiple generations of Angels, and can't believe he finally gets to wear the iconic Halo as he joins the school in its 150th year. This will be his 23rd season as a high school track coach in Colorado and his 19th as a 5A head coach, with stops at Hinkley, Rangeview, and Eaglecrest, producing State Champions at each.
He has coached athletes to 18 State Championships, 8 individual and 10 relays, plus two relay National Championships. In 2025 his Eaglecrest girls 4x100m set the Colorado all-classification state record at 46.41 and his boys ran the second fastest time ever at 40.99, the fastest 4x100m school in state history, while his girls 4x200m completed a four-peat as 5A State Champions from 2022 to 2025. His teams have won 12 League Championships and finished top five at the 5A State meet seven times. He has been named Conference Coach of the Year 12 times, School Coach of the Year four times, and Colorado Young Coach of the Year in 2017, and over 100 of his athletes have gone on to compete in college.
A co-founder of the Track & Field Leadership Lab Coaches Clinic, Carhart builds huge teams through joy and camaraderie, with the goal of giving kids an inclusive and lasting community. He teaches Weight Training at East, holds a Bachelor's in Human Performance and Sport and a Master's in Coaching, and is the proud father of two daughters who also attend East.
