Chris Carhart

HEAD COACH

Coach Carhart has dreamed of being at East his entire life, having been raised by multiple generations of Angels, and can’t believe he finally gets to wear the iconic Halo as he joins the school in its 150th year.  This season will be Carhart’s 23rd season as a high school track coach in Colorado, and 19th as a 5A head coach. His head coaching stops have included Hinkley, Rangeview, and Eaglecrest, having produced State Champions at each school.  He has coached athletes who have won 18 State Championships (8 Individual, and 10 Relays), and two relay National Championships.  In 2025 he coached the Eaglecrest Girls 4x100m relay who set the Colorado All-Classification State Record (46.41), and the Eaglecrest Boys to the second fastest time ever (40.99), making them the fastest 4x100m school in state history.  Last year, the Eaglecrest Girls 4x200m team completed a 4-peat as 5A State Champions, winning the event every year from 2022-2025, which had never been done previously.  Carhart’s teams have won 12 League Championships, and placed in the top five at the 5A State meet seven times.  In 2025, his Eaglecrest Boys and Girls teams combined to outscore every other 5A school at the State Championships, where the Boys were Runners-up and the Girls took third.  He has been named Conference Coach of the year 12 times, School Coach of the Year four times, and Colorado “Young Coach of the Year” in 2017.  Over 100 of his athletes have gone on to compete at the collegiate level.  He is a co-founder of the Track & Field Leadership Lab Coaches Clinic and has been invited to present at the Colorado track coaches clinic multiple times, where he has shared his philosophy of building huge numbers through the cultivation of joy and camaraderie, with the goal of providing kids with an inclusive and lasting community experience.  He believes that Track practice should be the best part of a kids’ day, and designs his program around this belief.  Carhart teaches Weight Training at East, holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Performance and Sport, and a Master’s Degree in Coaching.  Carhart is the proud father of two daughters, who also attend East.
